Colour-drip birds

I love all things bird-related, and have realised that my flat is slowly filling up with images, screenprints, postcards, books and mobiles of them. I was so excited to come across these extraordinary paintings yesterday (thanks Present&Correct!) by Maurizio Bongiovanni.

The group of paintings, titled 'Bird Rib', aim to "question the effect that the 'digitalization' is taking in the panorama view, re-marking the boundaries of the relationship between nature and technological process". (excerpt and all images taken from his Flickr page)

Baby books/2

Seeing this book again brought back lots of happy childhood memories. Richard Scarry is one of my favourite children's illustrators with his quirky characters and attention to detail. Published by Collins, this is the first edition of 'Richard Scarry's Animal Nursery Tales' from 1975.

Vintage vehicles

Surreal sights as beautiful old vintage vehicles drove down our road yesterday morning - the start of the London to Brighton run that sees around 200 commercial vehicles from the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society attempt the trip to the coast to win trophies and show off their sparkly metal detailing and brightly coloured paintwork. I took SO many photos so expect a few more posts that focus on shape, colour, graphics and type.

Carrot ice-cubes

The weaning process is under way. Bags of coloured ice cubes now fill my freezer.....carrot, sweet potato, butternut squash, apple, pear, parsnip.
