Two of my favourite images from the current exhibition at the Horniman Museum. 'Mummers, Maypoles and Milkmaids' displays 50 photographs by Sara Hannant that look at English rituals, traditional dances and costumed processions.
I came across this beautiful collection of photographs by Davina Zagury through the Babyccinokids blog yesterday, and fell in love with the atmospheric imagery, muted colours of pastel tints and interesting compositions; the photos have a vintagey yet also very modern feel. Called 'The Land of Lost Toys', Zagury explores the memories and stories that toys can possess, and each image has a description of the year and place the toy was found. 
Suddenly all the other toys don't matter anymore. Its all about the books. Sometimes we read the same ones 10 (probably 15) times a day, over and over, opening the flaps, feeling the textures, counting the animals. Sometimes she just sits alone, pulling them off the shelf, turning the pages and babbling in her own little language.
I can't believe how fast the time has gone. My baby is growing up and suddenly I have a six month old with two teeth, a love of pear, prune and cauliflower (?), and almost perfect balance when sitting up. 
I couldn't resist saving this post for Bonfire night - a collection of fireworks, explosives and packaging curated by colour, shape and size. My final post from the super inspiring Kalender/Wit exhibition in Antwerp.
