Cute packaging

A bit late with this post (although it could almost be for Valentines!) but I love the customised Cath Kidston wrapping on these presents from my friend to Lily and baby J.

Happy Christmas!

Someone was a little spoilt yesterday....although this is kind of her first Christmas as last year she was only 5 weeks old! Dressed in a cute reindeer outfit and santa socks (surely that's obligatory!).

Advent calender

Wow, the most beautiful (virtual) advent calender I've ever seen. Found on one of my favourite blogs Ungtblog, it was one of those moments where I just HAD to post it immediately! So inspiring. Count down to Christmas with Finnish designer Hanna Konola's Joulukalenteri here.

Golden hues

My final Christmas-related post before we begin to take down the decorations and I start practising all those New Year resolutions I have promised myself! Glitter-dusted letters, metallic foiled chocolates, mirrored card, gold star confetti, twirling cut-out angels, and a quirky hand-printed card from my friends husband at a two pipe problem.

100th post for Christmas

How exciting that my 100th post comes on Xmas Eve.....a big pat on the back to myself for keeping it going and thanks to everyone who has visited my blog so far.

I have embraced the idea of 'giving' this Christmas, making gingerbread and hand-drawn ceramics for my friends as gifts. I love the slippery and clean surfaces of the sourced second-hand ceramics that I am drawing on, and the slightly nervous feelings of having to get the lines right first time! These first attempts take inspiration from my travels around South East Asia, shells and fabric patterns. Definitely an ongoing project I think.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year x

Christmas canapes

Having a few days off work has given me time to potter around the house and try out some recipes for Christmas day (I have invited my parents over for Xmas dinner!!). Here is the trial run of one of three starters.....the car boot-bought plates make them look so much more attractive!

Festive textiles

Fabric confetti, tree ribbons, flouro ticker-tape, crochet snowmen and patchwork reindeer....all seen on the Kings Road today while I was hunting for pastry cutters for my mince pies! (Still haven't got any, think I've left it too late)

Advent calender

I bought a lovely traditional German advent calender from the Battersea car boot last month, where each day you push a new character into the picture. However, I didn't realise at the time that it actually starts on the 6th of December, which is celebrated as St Nicholas Day in Germany. So finally I have been able to start the calender today so it really feels like Christmas now!

I've also been busy making Christmas cards at the moment, I have a bit of a graphic look going on inspired by some mirrored card I bought in the art shop at Chelsea college when I was there for a project last week. Only 30 more cards to go ; ) it seems a bit crazy making them when there are thousands of styles in the shops, but everyone always comments on how nice it is to receive them and I like to create something unique and handmade.
