Material Teddy

I love Material Teddy, an inspiring project by recent Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Makikio Shinoda. It combines my love for material exploration and anything baby-related and is such a beautifully crafted object. I would love to have one for L!

"Material Teddy is made of various untreated natural materials that allow children to play and stimulate their senses to encourage the development of a healthy and balanced cognitive system. It reintroduces children to a rich sensory experience by stimulating the five senses". Images and text from Makiko Shinoda's website.

She turns one!

Homemade ladybird cake, Hello Kitty plates, lots of (pink!) cards, even more presents, and handmade Liberty print '1' top to celebrate my baby girl turning one. It's gone so fast!

Designer Pudsey

I love the collection of designer Pudsey bears that have been auctioned for this years Children In Need. Louis Vuitton Pudsey is currently on £12,000! Images above from (top to bottom, left to right) Erdem, Liberty, Jonathan Saunders, Henry Holland, Mulberry, PPQ.

Seaside wellies

We managed to get L to the seaside before she turns one......a windy but bright October day at Saltburn on the North East coast.

Cinematic projections

I loved this exhibition by Tacita Dean at the Turbine Hall in the Tate Modern, an 11 minute silent 35mm film projected onto a 13 metre high wall featuring a montage of black and white, colour and hand-tinted film. The colour-blocking and sliced imagery took on a very graphic and interesting collage effect, while the enormous scale allowed the viewer to immerse themselves in the landscape (I particularly love the little boy in the bottom image who looks like he can feel the wind blowing off the waves).
