Trip to Leeds

A train journey to Leeds to see friends this weekend - a day at Salt's Mill full of David Hockney doodles on the walls, menu and napkins and a christening for gorgeous Rose with pink bunting, balloons and bonbons!

Quilts inspiration

Definitely much more exciting than it sounds! Some of my favourites from the new Quilts 1700 - 2010 exhibition at the V&A. Lots of inspiration for shapes as well as colour and pattern mixes and I loved the one made from tiny squares of silk ribbons. I managed to go to the press preview which was pretty civilised, I'm sure it's going to be a bit of a push and a shove now it's completely sold out! See my first attempt of a patchwork quilt in my earlier post here.

Inky surfaces

Studio shots, gathering pattern, colour seeping from objects or splashed over the surface, work in progress documented as still-life.

Colour flash*

I love the washed-out springtime colours of these hand printed bags and vintage-inspired ribbons seen at the Bricolage pop-up shop.

Festive textiles

Fabric confetti, tree ribbons, flouro ticker-tape, crochet snowmen and patchwork reindeer....all seen on the Kings Road today while I was hunting for pastry cutters for my mince pies! (Still haven't got any, think I've left it too late)

Inspirations from Frankfurt

Here are some of my most inspiring finds from my Frankfurt trip a couple of weeks ago. Lots of pattern, layers of ribbon, bold geometrics and quirky shop windows - the top two images were taken from the outside of a gorgeous little shop that was unfortuately closed for the day (I can't remember its name but it might be Ketchup&Majo). Another lovely shop is Designe, Kleine! which has lots of quirky products from young designers, both of them are on Wallstrasse in Sachsenhausen.
