Retro pattern clash

My close friends have recently moved out to the suburbs into a *slightly dated* house owned by the same family for 100 years. I had to get over there and document all of the fab crazy patterns on the walls and floors before they rip them up and throw them in the skip (I've already requested some of the vinyl wallpaper and the cute board with bird transfer motifs...I think the threadbare carpets are pushing it a bit!).

Sticky dots

For a little girl who has become a little obsessed with stickers, I think this was her favourite exhibition EVER! Part of the current Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Tate Modern, the Obliteration Room began as a completely white space, where visitors are given a sheet of sticky dots (the size, colour and finish were all chosen by Kusama) and free to just stick them anywhere they want (even on the toy cat!). It was a great place to let the kids have some crazy play time and oddly, it also felt quite relaxing and calm in there.

Wallpaper memories

My parents found this half roll of wallpaper in the loft - leftover from either mine or my brothers nursery, so at least 30 years old. Beautiful watercolour animal prints on a thick vinyl that has slightly yellowed on the back. Such a shame there isn't enough to do a whole wall in Lilys bedroom....maybe I'll frame a section instead.
